SMC for the last 10 years has been contracted by the Auckland Secondary Schools Principals Association to Event Manage the ASB Polyfest.
Experience the South Pacific at this unique cultural festival featuring traditional music, dance, costume, speeches, food and craft. March 2010 will see the 35th year of the ASB POLYFEST. Featuring the very best of secondary school cultural talent, it is the largest festival of its kind in the world, a wonderful celebration of colour, music and dance promoting cultural awareness and understanding.
The 5 traditional stages – Cook Island, Maori, Niue, Samoan and Tongan, have been supplemented in recent years by groups performing cultural dance from Korea, China, Sri Lanka, Fiji, India, Syria, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines and Pakistan.
Up to 10,000 secondary school students will practice over a period of 2 - 5 months to master their performance of traditional and/or contemporary cultural dance. They then perform in-front of an audience of thousands.
The festival continues to gain public awareness throughout the country and, steadily, abroad.
